Farmland Protection Board – Call for Applications

Pocahontas County, WV – January 15, 2021 – Farmland Protection Board is currently receiving applications for conservation easements.

Applications must be received by February 5, 2021 in order to be considered for the FY21 funding cycle.

Applications can be obtained from the Pocahontas County Extension Office in Marlinton (in the basement of the courthouse), any of the libraries in Pocahontas County (Marlinton, Durbin, Green Bank, Hillsboro, McClintic, Linwood/Snowshoe), the USDA offices in Buckeye (call ahead / (304) 799-4317), and via e-mail:  amy@saddlebackservices.org.

The goals for the West Virginia Voluntary Farmland Protection Program are to partially offset development pressures which have led to rapid loss of farmland and open space all over the nation; to encourage the permanent protection of certain parcels of farmland; to facilitate the awarding of financial compensation for those who are willing to sell development rights on their property, and to assist those who are willing to donate conservation easements.

If you would like an application mailed to you, or have any questions, please contact Amy Moloney, 304-667-4877.
