Board & Officers
The Monroe County Farmland Protection Board is composed of seven members, each serving without compensation but eligible for reimbursement of actual expenses while engaged in the discharge of official duties. All members are required to be county residents. All members are appointed by the Monroe County Commission and serve at the will and pleasure of the Commission.
The specific composition of the Board is as follows:
- One Monroe County Commissioner
- Executive Director of the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation
- One farmer who is a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau
- One farmer who is a member of the Greenbrier Valley Conservation District
- One farmer who need not be a member of any farm organization.
- One county resident who is not a member of the foregoing organizations
- One county resident who is not a member of the foregoing organizations
All members of the farmland protection board are voting members, except the County Commissioner who serves in an advisory capacity as a non voting member.
The composition of every farmland protection board is dictated by Chapter 20 of the West Virginia Code through the addition of Article 12 revised to 8A-12-1 through 8A-12-21 (2004).
