BCFPB Protects Two More Farms in February 2026

Martinsburg, WV –

The Berkeley County Farmland Protection Board (BCFPB) is pleased to announce that they closed on two easements from Fiscal Year 2025 selections this February. The first farm is located in Inwood and protects 40 acres of generational farmland. The second is in the Arden area and protects approximately 145 acres of orchard. These newly protected properties will remain dedicated to farming and open space in perpetuity, helping to strengthen the local economy and preserve the rural character of the community.

By safeguarding this land, the program ensures that these acres will continue contributing to food production, natural resource conservation, and the area’s farming heritage. “We are proud to work with local landowners who are committed to protecting their farms for future generations,” said Executive Director Resa Ingram Orsini. “Each preserved property represents an investment in our community’s agricultural future.”

The BCFPB works with landowners through a voluntary, and competitive, process to secure permanent conservation easements that keep farmland in agriculture uses while protecting soil, water, and scenic resources. With these two farms now preserved, the program continues to build with over 9,288 acres forever protected in Berkeley County.
